ABOUT
What a long, strange trip it's been.
In 1987, I graduated with a degree in fine arts from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. Today, I make my home in Edmonton, Alberta with my wonderful family. In between, I've enjoyed seasons as a teacher, a realtor, a welder, a hobby farmer, a father, a husband, a life drawing model, a renovator, a copper smelter, a pulp cutter, and a prop-builder for mini-golf. I spent years working abroad in New Zealand, and met my beautiful wife during a long term in Rankin Inlet.
My current series has been spawned from a daily morning practice of drawing an image that is similar to a mandala. In many spiritual teachings, a mandala is a visual tool to focus attention and prepare the mind to accept the vast nature of our universe. In this work, I allow my survivor experiences to speak - through memories, movement, and meditation.
